Big appliances, no drama

San Diego Appliance Movers

Refrigerators, washers, and dryers are the heaviest, most awkward items in most homes, and the fastest way to ruin a hallway. Our San Diego crews move them daily with the dollies, straps, and floor protection the job actually requires.

Disconnect and reconnect: what we handle and what needs a pro

We take care of the basics: unplugging, disconnecting washer water lines, securing and draining hoses, installing transit bolts on front loaders when you have them, and taping and padding doors for transport. At the destination we reconnect standard water and power where access is straightforward.

Gas lines, hardwired connections, and water lines buried behind cabinetry are a different category. Gas dryers and ranges should be disconnected and reconnected by a licensed plumber, and we flag that in advance so you can schedule the hookup instead of discovering it on move day.

Refrigerator prep matters too: empty it and let it defrost roughly 24 hours before the move. We transport refrigerators upright and recommend letting the unit settle before plugging it back in, per the manufacturer guidance for your model.

Stairs, tight corners, and San Diego condo buildings

Stairs are where DIY appliance moves go wrong. We use rated appliance dollies and shoulder straps, measure doorways and stair rails before lifting, pull appliance doors when a corner demands it, and protect floors and banisters along the route.

For condos and high-rises, certificates of insurance for your building are standard with us, and we can work around elevator reservations and loading dock rules. Tell us the building when you book and we handle the paperwork.

One appliance or part of a full move

Plenty of customers call us for a single refrigerator across town, a washer and dryer to a rental unit, or a garage freezer up a flight of stairs. Appliance handling also folds into full local moves at no special ceremony, and if the old unit needs to disappear, our junk hauling crews can take it on the same trip.

FAQ

Appliance Movers questions, answered.

Do you reconnect gas dryers or ranges?
No. Gas connections must be handled by a licensed plumber, both for safety and for code. We move the appliance, position it, and handle electric and standard water hookups, and we tell you ahead of time when a plumber is needed.
Can a refrigerator be laid down to move it?
Upright is strongly preferred and it is how we transport them. If a unit must tilt briefly through a doorway, it should stand and settle before being plugged in, following the manufacturer guidance for your model.
How soon can I plug my fridge back in?
If it traveled upright, most manufacturers say a few hours of settling is enough. If it was tilted at any point, wait longer. We will tell you what happened during transport so you can follow the right timeline.
Can you move a stacked washer and dryer?
Yes. We unstack, move, and restack units, and we reinstall the stacking kit at the destination. Front loaders travel best with transit bolts, so dig yours out if you still have them.
Do you move appliances up stairs?
Yes, that is most of the job. Stairs, tight landings, and split-level homes are exactly why people call us instead of borrowing a pickup truck and a friend.
Is there a minimum charge for a single appliance?
Yes, an hourly minimum applies to small jobs, which we state up front when you call. One honest phone conversation gets you a realistic estimate: 619-600-5000.
