House moving crews that know San Diego

San Diego houses come with San Diego problems: steep hillside driveways in Mt. Helix, narrow canyon streets in Kensington and Talmadge, three-story townhomes in Carmel Valley with the garage on the bottom level. Our crews work these layouts every week, so they arrive with the right dollies, ramps, and pad inventory instead of improvising in your driveway.

Every crew member is a background-checked, uniformed Gorilla Movers employee. We never staff jobs with day labor, which matters most on house moves, where the crew spends a full day in every room of your home. On move day you get a live-tracking text so you know exactly when the truck will arrive.

What a full-home move includes

Disassembly and reassembly of beds, dining tables, desks, and anything else that will not travel in one piece
Pad wrapping on every furniture item before it leaves the room, plus floor runners and door-frame protection
Washer, dryer, and refrigerator moving with standard hookups (gas disconnects need a licensed plumber)
Garage, patio, and shed items: tool chests, grills, patio sets, bikes, surfboards
Free use of wardrobe boxes on local moves, so closets travel on hangers
A certificate of insurance for any HOA or gated community that requires one, at no charge

What house movers cost in San Diego

House moves are quoted hourly, and the honest answer is that your total depends on three things: how much you own, how good the access is at both homes, and whether everything is boxed before the crew arrives. The ranges below reflect what most Gorilla Movers customers actually pay on local house moves.

Fuel is charged and itemized up front on every quote, so nothing new appears on the final bill. If you want a locked number instead of an hourly estimate, binding quotes are locked in with a free on-site survey.

How to make move day faster

Finish packing before the crew arrives; an hourly crew waiting on boxes is the most expensive way to pack
Label every box by destination room so unloading happens in one pass
Clear the driveway and hold street parking as close to the door as you can
Disconnect TVs, computers, and lamps the night before
Keep documents, medications, jewelry, and chargers in a bag that rides with you

FAQ

House Movers questions, answered.

How long does it take to move a 3-bedroom house in San Diego?
Most 3-bedroom house moves run 7 to 9 hours driveway to driveway with a three or four person crew. Long carries, multiple flights of stairs, or packing that is not finished can push past that, which is why we ask detailed questions before we quote.
Do your movers disassemble and reassemble furniture?
Yes. Beds, cribs, dining tables, desks, and sectionals are taken apart at the old house and rebuilt at the new one. Crews carry their own tools, and hardware travels in labeled bags taped to the furniture it belongs to.
Can you move my washer, dryer, and refrigerator?
Yes, with standard water and electric hookups included. Gas dryer disconnects and reconnects need a licensed plumber for safety, so schedule that before move day. Refrigerators should be emptied and, ideally, defrosted the night before.
Can I get a price that will not change?
Yes. Binding quotes are locked in with a free on-site survey, where we walk the home and count everything ourselves. Phone and online quotes are hourly estimates based on the inventory you describe, so the final total follows the actual hours worked.
Do I need to empty my dressers?
Light clothing can usually stay in sturdy dressers. Empty anything fragile, heavy, or liquid, and clear the drawers of particleboard furniture, which cannot take the load. The crew lead makes the final call piece by piece so nothing gets damaged in the carry.
How far ahead should I book a house move?
Two to three weeks is comfortable for most dates. End-of-month weekends and summer Saturdays book out first, so grab those earlier. If escrow just closed and you need a crew this week, call 619-600-5000 and we will tell you honestly what is open.
