Long private drives with gates, tight turns, and low tree cover decide what equipment we bring. Sometimes the full truck reaches the motor court; sometimes a shuttle vehicle covers the last stretch. We scout it before move day and price the answer into the quote.
Trucks and septic fields don't mix
Plenty of Rancho Santa Fe properties run on septic, and a loaded truck parked over the leach field is an expensive mistake. We ask where the system sits and stage clear of it, a thirty-second question that protects a five-figure repair.
Gates want names before arrival
The gated enclaves keep vendor procedures, and even Covenant properties often have private gates with codes or staff. We supply crew names, vehicle details, and insurance certificates ahead of time so the gate is a wave-through, not a wait.
High-value pieces get specialty handling

Why an estate move is not a big house move.
An estate move fails in the planning, never in the lifting. In Rancho Santa Fe, the variables start at the road: narrow lanes without streetlights or sidewalks, eucalyptus limbs that hang lower than a box truck is tall, and private driveways long enough that where the truck stops becomes a real logistics decision. Then there's the property itself, guest houses, art, wine, pieces that need custom crating, and often a gate, whether the Covenant's private roads or enclaves like The Bridges and Cielo with their own entry procedures.
So we plan Rancho Santa Fe jobs differently. A walkthrough first, in person when the scope calls for it. A crating list for the pieces your insurer cares about. A staging plan that respects the driveway, the landscaping, and the septic field a heavy truck shouldn't park on. The Covenant
The original Rancho Santa Fe, about 1,900 properties governed by the Rancho Santa Fe Association rather than a guard gate. The roads are private and the Association maintains them, the lanes are narrow with no shoulder to stage on, and nearly 60 miles of private riding and walking trails cross them. There is no gate list to get on here, but there is an Art Jury and Association rules, and a truck still has to fit the lane it is asked to turn into.
Fairbanks Ranch
Guard-gated with staffed security around the clock, plus a lake, an equestrian center and tennis courts inside the gate. A staffed gate is the easy kind to plan for: crew names, vehicle details and our certificate of insurance go over in advance, and the truck is expected when it arrives.
The Bridges
Guard-gated and built around The Bridges Golf Club, roughly 240 homes on half-acre to two-acre lots, many of them 3,000 to 10,000-plus square feet. Big houses on generous lots mean long carries from the motor court, so crew size and door protection get planned off the walkthrough rather than guessed at.
The Crosby
A newer gated golf community around The Crosby Club. Newer construction usually means wider interior doors and a real motor court, which is the difference between a shuttle and backing the full truck in. We confirm it on the survey either way.
Cielo
Gated, and sitting at one of the highest points in Rancho Santa Fe with views from the ocean to the mountains. Height means the approach: climbing switchback roads, hairpins a 26-foot box truck has to swing wide on, and driveways that fall away from the street.
Del Mar Country Club
Guard-gated around a private golf and tennis club, with security on site. Club communities tend to run vendor hours and route rules, so we book the window rather than turning up and negotiating at the gate.
The Farms
A gated enclave of custom estates built around the Rancho Santa Fe Farms golf course, on larger lots. Same estate playbook: scout the drive, stage off the landscaping, crate what the insurer cares about.
The smaller gates
Del Rayo Estates, The River Estates, Rancho La Cima and Rancho Santa Fe Lakes are all gated too, and a few Covenant properties run their own private gate with a code or a keeper. Whichever it is, tell us at the survey and it becomes a wave-through instead of a crew sitting on the call box with a loaded truck.
