From late morning through evening, the blocks around the State Historic Park and the San Diego Avenue restaurant strip fill with tour buses, rideshares, and pedestrians, and curb space becomes the scarcest resource in the neighborhood. Our standard Old Town play is an early start: load in the quiet morning hours and be gone before the crowds own the curbs.
The actual housing mostly climbs the hillside toward Mission Hills, condo buildings and apartment complexes with garages, gates, and elevators, plus a scatter of older homes on the flats. Add the transit center's bus, trolley, and rail traffic on the west edge, and the truck's approach route matters as much as its parking spot.
