Cardiff-by-the-Sea is barely a square mile and a half, but it packs in more elevation change per block than almost anywhere else we work. In the Composer District, streets named for composers climb steeply off the coast, and plenty of homes stack their entries a flight or two above the driveway. Hillside homes here often put the front door a level above the garage, with interior stairs on top of that. We count the flights before move day and staff accordingly, and there's no stair surcharge hiding in the bill, it's all in the hourly quote.
Beach-season curb space disappears
Summer weekends near the state beach and Restaurant Row, parking evaporates by mid-morning. We book early starts, place the truck deliberately, and keep the carry path off the busiest stretch of pavement.
The rail crossing shapes routing
With limited crossings over the tracks, a Cardiff move's route matters more than its mileage. Our drivers plan around the crossings and the 101 rather than trusting whatever the map app suggests at 8am.
