Garnet and Grand set the schedule
By late morning on a summer weekend, Garnet Avenue is a slow parade and the beach blocks are worse. We book PB jobs for early starts, route in from the east, and aim to have the truck loaded before the neighborhood wakes up. It routinely saves clients an hour or more.
The alley is usually the answer
Most apartment buildings between Mission Boulevard and the bay load better from the alley than the street. Our crews stage there when it's legal and clear, protect the path in and out, and keep the truck out of the cruiser-and-pedestrian stream out front.
Lease turnover comes in waves
PB runs on one-year leases, and end-of-month weekends in summer are the busiest moving days we see anywhere in the city. If your lease flips on the 1st, book us two to three weeks out and take a weekday morning if you can.
Not all of PB is flat
The beach blocks are level, but north PB climbs toward Kate Sessions Park on steep, narrow streets with short driveways. Uphill houses get a bigger crew and honest time estimates, not a surprise on the invoice.

Every August, some meaningful chunk of Pacific Beach packs itself into boxes. Students graduate, roommates split, a lease near Crystal Pier ends and another one starts three streets over. We've worked those turnover weekends for 18 years, and the pattern never changes: small units, tight alleys, no elevators, and everyone moving on the same four days.
The housing stock is mostly low-rise apartments and duplexes built decades ago for a beach town, which means stair-only second floors, compact rooms, and salt-air door frames that stick. Furniture here is light but the logistics aren't, so speed comes from planning the access, not rushing the carry.
