White Glove Delivery in San Diego

White glove delivery is the opposite of a crate on the driveway. The piece comes into the room you want it in, gets unboxed and assembled there, is placed where it belongs, and every scrap of packaging leaves with the crew.

The short version

White glove delivery from Gorilla Movers means the piece comes into the room you choose, gets unboxed and assembled there, is placed to your instruction, and all the packaging leaves with the crew the same day. That is a step beyond room of choice, which brings it to the room but leaves it boxed, and well beyond curbside or threshold. Final mile is a logistics term rather than a service level and can mean any of those, so it is worth asking which. Local crews are our own uniformed W-2 employees, and we are a licensed California mover carrying $1M/$2M general liability with a $3M umbrella, issuing certificates of insurance the same day a building asks. We deliver throughout San Diego County. Licensed CAL T-192729, USDOT 3801918. Call 619-600-5000.

The four delivery tiers, and which one you are being quoted

Delivery language is used loosely, and the difference between the cheapest and the dearest option is entirely about who does the work once the truck arrives. It is worth knowing which one you have bought before the day.

Curbside means the driver puts it on the curb and leaves. Threshold means it comes as far as the first dry space inside the door, usually a garage or an entryway. Room of choice means it gets carried to the room you name, still boxed. White glove means room of choice plus unboxing, assembly, placement to your instruction, and removal of all packaging.

Final mile is a logistics term rather than a service level, and it can mean any of the four. If a quote says final mile, ask which of the above it actually includes.

Crews, not couriers

The reason a sofa gets damaged is almost never the freeway. It is the last fifty feet: a stair turn, a door jamb, a lift that is four inches too short for the piece standing upright. That is moving work, and it is why we send movers rather than drivers.

The Gorilla Movers Silverback Policies Handbook and a company cap, the written standards every crew is trained to
Crews work to a written handbook, not to whoever turned up.

Local delivery crews are our own W-2 employees, uniformed and trained in house to a written handbook rather than assembled from day labor on the morning. We are a licensed and regulated California mover, CAL T-192729 and USDOT 3801918, carrying $1M/$2M general liability with a $3M umbrella, and we issue certificates of insurance, including additional-insured naming, the same day a building asks for one.

That last point decides more deliveries than people expect. A good many San Diego buildings will not let a delivery past the loading dock without a COI on file, and a courier who cannot produce one leaves with your furniture still on the truck.

Protecting the route in

Before anything comes through the door, the path is protected: floor runners over hard floors and carpet, corner and wall protection at the turns, padding in the lift, and door jamb protection where a piece has to be angled through. In shared buildings the common areas get the same treatment as the residence, because the HOA that has to repaint a lobby is the one that decides whether movers are welcome next time.

Assembly happens in the room, not in the driveway, so the piece is not carried twice. Legs, hardware and instructions go back to you rather than into the packaging pile.

Then the packaging leaves. Cardboard, foam, film, blankets and crating go out with the crew the same day, which is the part cheap delivery quietly leaves in your garage.

What we deliver

Furniture bought at market, online, or from a showroom that delivers to the curb only
Single pieces: a sofa, a dining table, a headboard, a wardrobe
Appliances and fitness equipment that need placing and levelling
Crated art, mirrors and glass, uncrated in the room
Full rooms released from designer receiving, installed in one appointment
Retailer and gallery deliveries on a recurring schedule

Where we deliver

Throughout San Diego County, from the coastal towns to East County. High-rise and gated-community deliveries need the building's paperwork sorted first, which we handle rather than hand back to you, and downtown towers need a booked freight elevator.

If the piece is coming from outside San Diego and needs somewhere to land before it can be delivered, that is receiving, and it is the same warehouse and the same crews.

How it works

Four steps to settled in.

1

Tell us the basics

30-second form or one call. A real quote lands within one business hour.

Lock your date

Crew, truck, and arrival window confirmed. Optional text reminders.

3

We do the lifting

Wrap, pack, load, transport. Protected and live-tracked at every step.

4

Settle in happy

Placed, reassembled, debris gone. You just live there now.

Delivery is quoted on the piece, the access and the distance rather than published as a flat rate, because a headboard into a ground-floor bedroom and a sectional into a fourth-floor walk-up are not the same job. Tell us what it is and where it is going and you get a number in writing, usually within one business hour.
FAQ

White Glove Delivery questions, answered.

What does white glove delivery include?
Delivery into the room you choose, unboxing, assembly, placement to your instruction, and removal of all packaging the same day. It is a step beyond room of choice, which brings the item to the room but leaves it boxed, and several steps beyond curbside or threshold delivery.
What is the difference between white glove and final mile delivery?
Final mile describes the last leg of a shipment, not a level of service. A final-mile quote can be curbside, threshold, room of choice or white glove. Ask which one it is before you book, because the difference is who unboxes, assembles, places and removes the packaging.
Do you deliver furniture I bought somewhere else?
Yes. A good deal of this work is furniture bought online, at market, or from a showroom that only delivers to the curb. We collect it, bring it in, assemble it and place it. If it has not shipped yet, we can also receive it at our warehouse first.
Can you provide a certificate of insurance for my building?
Yes, the same day you ask, including additional-insured naming where the building requires it. We carry $1M/$2M general liability plus a $3M umbrella. Many San Diego buildings will not release a freight elevator without a COI on file, so it is worth asking for one early.
Do you take the boxes away?
Yes, all of it, on the same visit: cardboard, foam, film, blankets and crating. Packaging left behind is the usual complaint about budget delivery, and it is the easiest part of the job to get right.
Do you assemble the furniture?
Yes, in the room rather than in the driveway, so the piece is only carried once. Hardware, instructions and any spare parts go back to you. Items needing a licensed trade, such as a hardwired appliance or a wall-anchored installation, are the exception and we will say so up front.

Gorilla movers did a fantastic job moving my mother in Oceanside. Raul was incredible. From the moment he arrived, he was very strategic in how he would complete the job. I had doubts with all of the stuff we had but trusted his knowledge and experience and he exceeded our expectations! They take care of your items, asked a lot of questions and consistently checked in on if there was anything else they could help with. Raul, not sure if we could have done this move without you!! Thank you so much and than you Gorilla movers!! -Jackie, Marty, and Liz

What took me at least 8 hours of painstaking work took them less than 2. Makes me wish I used them for the loading AND unloading. Raul and Hazael were so quick and nice and communicative throughout the entire process. Makes things easier on yourself by using them if you need to move at all. It’s well worth it.

Alex and the crew were very professional and took great care of our stuff. We booked on short notice and they were accommodating and communicated throughout the move. They even helped move some of the boxes of stuff from our garage to the appropriate rooms as we had a little extra time.

We used Gorilla Movers 7 years ago and they did an excellent job. So we hired them again for our current move and they worked so hard. This time we were moving our belongings into pods and the perfectly wrapped our furniture for a long move. They also perfectly packed the pods so we could fit all of our belongings. I highly recommend this moving company.
