Gym gear is heavy, expensive, and easy to damage

A gym is one of the hardest rooms to move well. The equipment is dense, the plate-loaded machines and racks weigh more than they look, and the electronics on the cardio line are delicate right where the frame is brutal. Do it with the wrong crew and you get gouged flooring, a bent rack, and a treadmill console that never boots again. Gorilla Movers moves San Diego gyms, studios, and clubs with the right equipment for the weight and a plan for the pieces that break.

It is also a floor-protection job on both ends. Rubber gym flooring, new retail floors, and everything in between get protected before a single machine rolls, because the damage on a gym move is as often to the building as to the gear.

Strength equipment

Power racks, squat stands, cable stacks, Smith machines, and plate-loaded equipment are disassembled to the right level, moved on gear rated for the weight, and rebuilt at the destination so they are safe to load again. We handle the weight itself too, plates, dumbbells, kettlebells, the stuff that makes a gym move heavier than almost anything else, on the equipment that keeps crews and floors intact.

Selectorized machines with weight stacks are secured so the stack cannot slam in transit, and hardware is bagged and labeled by machine so reassembly is fast and nothing is left in a bin.

Cardio and electronics

Treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, and rowers move with their consoles and electronics treated as the fragile part, padded, secured, and kept upright so displays and control boards ride safe. A cardio deck is worth thousands and dies from a hard knock to the console, so we move it like the computer it is, not like a piece of furniture.

Where a unit needs to be partially broken down to clear a door or a stairwell, we do it with the manual in mind so it goes back together to spec.

Studios, clubs, and home gyms

We move the whole range, boutique studios and CrossFit boxes, full commercial clubs, hotel and apartment fitness centers, and serious home gyms. The scale changes the crew size and the truck count, not the care. A single power rack up a flight of stairs gets the same plan as a 10,000-square-foot club.

For clubs relocating without fully closing, we can phase the move so members keep training on one side while we clear the other.

Protecting floors and the equipment

Floor protection goes down first, at both locations, and heavy machines move on the right dollies and straps so nothing drags. Racks and machines are padded at the contact points, and mirrors, a gym staple and a breakage risk, are crated and handled like the glass they are.

Every gym move is run by our own uniformed, background-checked employees, and we carry the insurance and provide the certificates your landlord or building requires.

FAQ

Gym Equipment Movers questions, answered.

Do you disassemble racks and machines for the move?
Yes, to the right level. Power racks, cable stacks, Smith machines, and plate-loaded equipment are broken down enough to move safely and clear doors and stairs, then rebuilt at the destination so they are safe to load again. Hardware is bagged and labeled by machine so reassembly is fast and complete.
How do you protect treadmills and cardio electronics?
Cardio equipment moves with the console and electronics treated as the fragile part, padded, secured, and kept upright so displays and control boards are not jolted. A treadmill is essentially a computer on a heavy frame, so we protect the expensive, breakable end, not just the deck.
Can you move a home gym, or just commercial clubs?
Both. We move serious home gyms, boutique studios, CrossFit boxes, hotel and apartment fitness centers, and full commercial clubs. The scale sets the crew and truck count; the care is the same whether it is one rack up a staircase or a full club.
How do you protect the flooring during a gym move?
Floor protection goes down first at both locations, and heavy machines move on the right dollies and straps so nothing drags across the floor. Gym moves damage buildings as often as gear, so protecting rubber flooring, new retail floors, and thresholds is part of the standard plan.
Can you store equipment between locations?
Yes. If your new space is not ready, we can move equipment into secure storage and redeliver when you are, or phase a club relocation so members keep training on one side while we clear the other. We will scope storage as part of the plan.
Are you insured and can you provide a certificate for our landlord?
Yes. We carry commercial liability and cargo insurance and provide certificates of insurance for your landlord and building ahead of the move. Every gym move is staffed by our own uniformed, background-checked employees, not day labor.
