Pallet Rack Installation & Teardown San Diego

Pallet rack is structural steel and deserves a crew that treats it that way. Gorilla Movers installs, tears down and relocates racking for San Diego warehouses, anchored to spec and finished with a clean floor.

Installation to your engineered drawings

California is seismic country, which is why racking here is engineered, anchored and often permitted rather than simply bolted together. We install uprights plumb, beams level, and anchors torqued to the values on your approved drawings. Wire decking, row spacers and column protectors go in as part of the job, not as an afterthought.

If your project requires permits for racking or high-piled storage, we work from the stamped plans and coordinate with your engineer of record or permit expediter so the inspector sees exactly what was approved. We will not improvise a layout in the field, because improvised steel is how warehouses fail inspections.

Teardown, worked top down and in reverse installation order

Reconfiguration: changing beam elevations, aisle widths or adding bays
Anchor removal, hole patching and floor restoration after removal
Haul-away and recycling of retired rack, or staging and cataloging for resale

Teardown that protects your floor and your schedule

Rack comes down the way it went up, in reverse. Decking first, then beams, then uprights, with an exclusion zone around the work so your team keeps operating in the rest of the building. Racking must be empty before we touch it, and we can move the inventory off it first as part of the same project.

When the steel is down, we pull anchors, patch and seal the holes, and sort hardware for reuse or recycling under California disposal rules. You get a floor that is ready for new racking or a lease-end walkthrough, not a slab full of stubs and grout craters.

One vendor from the racks to the last pallet

Most racking projects are part of something bigger: a facility move, an expansion, a consolidation. Because Gorilla Movers is a full commercial mover, the same company that drops your beams can transfer your inventory, move your machinery and set up the new building. One walkthrough, one timeline, one number to call.

We have run crews in San Diego since 2008, hold CAL T-192729 and USDOT 3801918, and send only our own background-checked, uniformed employees. Certificates of insurance for your building are standard, and binding quotes are locked in with a free on-site survey.

FAQ

Pallet Rack Services questions, answered.

Do I need a permit to install pallet racking in San Diego?
Often, yes. Taller racking and high-piled storage commonly require permits and engineered calculations in San Diego County. Your engineer or dealer typically produces the drawings; we install exactly to the approved plans and coordinate around your inspection schedule.
Do you anchor the racking?
Yes. Anchoring is part of every install, with anchors set and torqued to the specification on your drawings. Unanchored rack in a seismic zone is a liability we will not leave behind.
Can you move racking that still has product on it?
No. Racking must be empty before teardown, full stop. What we can do is move the inventory off the rack, dismantle, relocate, reinstall and reload it as one continuous project so your team is not stuck doing the heavy prep.
Do you sell pallet rack?
No, and that keeps our advice honest. We install, tear down and relocate. Buy from the dealer you trust, and we will put their steel up correctly. If you are retiring rack, we can haul it away or stage and catalog it for resale.
Can you work while our warehouse stays open?
Yes. We set exclusion zones around active bays and can run evenings or weekends so your pick operation keeps moving. Live-facility racking work is routine for our San Diego crews.
How is racking work priced?
Hourly for small jobs. Binding quotes are locked in with a free on-site survey, which we recommend for anything beyond a few bays. Fuel is charged and itemized up front.
