The short version

Gorilla Movers relocates San Diego restaurants and commercial kitchens: hoods, walk-ins, ranges, prep tables, bar equipment, and the entire dining room. A restaurant move is a race against rent and revenue, so we run after-hours and phase the work to get one location dark and the next one open with the fewest possible services lost. We also handle closures, liquidations, and full cleanouts. Quoted from a walkthrough with your GM or owner, and the walkthrough quote is binding. Call 619-600-5000.

A restaurant move is a race against rent and revenue

Every day a restaurant is closed is rent with no register behind it, so the whole job is about compressing the dark time. Gorilla Movers moves San Diego restaurants with that clock running: we plan the sequence, stage the crews, and work the hours that keep you closed for a night instead of a week. Since 2008 we have moved kitchens, dining rooms, and bars, and we know a restaurant relocation is equal parts heavy lifting and tight scheduling.

It is also a coordination job. Gas and plumbing disconnects need licensed trades, landlords need certificates of insurance, and health-department realities shape what has to happen in what order. We hold the moving timeline so those pieces line up instead of colliding.

A Gorilla Movers van downtown, ready for a San Diego restaurant move

Commercial kitchen equipment

Commercial kitchen gear is heavy, awkward, and expensive, ranges, ovens, fryers, hoods, prep tables, shelving, and the walk-in itself. We move it on equipment sized for the weight, protect stainless and glass, and coordinate the disconnect and reconnect of gas, water, and electrical with your licensed contractors so our crew hands off cleanly at each step.

Walk-in coolers and freezers get broken down and rebuilt with a plan, panels labeled, gaskets protected, so the box that kept your food cold in the old space does the same job in the new one.

Dining room, bar, and FF&E

Front of house moves as its own phase: tables, chairs, booths, the bar and back-bar, POS stations, and decor. We pad and protect the pieces that set your room's tone and set them back the way they belong, so the new space reads finished on opening night rather than half-unpacked.

For a rebrand or refresh, we can store what is being kept and route what is being replaced to disposal in the same trip, so you are not paying a second crew to haul the old booths away.

Closures, liquidations, and cleanouts

Not every restaurant move is to a new location. When a concept closes, we handle the reverse: clearing the space to the landlord's standard, moving equipment to storage or a buyer, and hauling what is left. Where equipment has resale value we can coordinate liquidation instead of disposal so the closure recovers something.

One crew handling the move-out, the storage, and the haul means the landlord gets the keys back on time and you are not juggling three vendors during a stressful close.

After-hours and phased so you lose one service, not a week

We schedule around your service, nights, a slow day, or a full overnight, so the register keeps ringing as long as possible on one end and starts again fast on the other. For operators running more than one location, we can phase the move so staff and equipment shift without going fully dark.

Every restaurant move is run by our own uniformed, background-checked employees, and we carry the insurance and provide the certificates your landlord and building require.

FAQ

Restaurant Movers questions, answered.

Do you disconnect and reconnect gas, water, and electrical?
Those connections have to be handled by licensed trades to stay code-compliant, so we coordinate the disconnect and reconnect with your contractors and hold the moving timeline so our crew hands off cleanly at each step. We move the equipment itself, ranges, hoods, walk-ins, and everything else, and make sure the trades are scheduled to match.
Can you move walk-in coolers and freezers?
Yes. Walk-ins are broken down and rebuilt with a plan, panels labeled and gaskets protected, so the box performs the same in the new space. We coordinate any refrigeration-line work with your licensed contractor and handle the physical move of the panels and components.
Can you move a single piece of equipment instead of a whole restaurant?
Yes. Whether it is one range, a reach-in, or a full kitchen and dining room, we scope the crew and equipment to the job. A single heavy piece through a tight kitchen is its own small specialty move, and we handle those as readily as a full relocation.
Do you handle restaurant closures and cleanouts?
Yes. When a concept closes we clear the space to the landlord's standard, move equipment to storage or a buyer, and haul what is left. Where equipment has resale value we can coordinate liquidation instead of disposal so the closure recovers some cost.
Can you work overnight so we lose as little service as possible?
Almost always. Restaurant moves are scheduled around your service, overnight or on a slow day, to compress the dark time. For multi-location operators we can phase the move so equipment and staff shift without the business going fully dark.
Can you provide a certificate of insurance for our landlord?
Yes. We carry commercial liability and cargo insurance and provide certificates of insurance for your landlord and building ahead of the move, which most commercial leases require before a moving crew can work in the space.
How soon can you move our restaurant?
Most restaurant and commercial-kitchen moves book within the same week, and we work overnight and between services to keep your doors open. Full buildouts with heavy equipment want more lead time to plan the crew and the disconnects.

Gorilla movers did a fantastic job moving my mother in Oceanside. Raul was incredible. From the moment he arrived, he was very strategic in how he would complete the job. I had doubts with all of the stuff we had but trusted his knowledge and experience and he exceeded our expectations! They take care of your items, asked a lot of questions and consistently checked in on if there was anything else they could help with. Raul, not sure if we could have done this move without you!! Thank you so much and than you Gorilla movers!! -Jackie, Marty, and Liz

What took me at least 8 hours of painstaking work took them less than 2. Makes me wish I used them for the loading AND unloading. Raul and Hazael were so quick and nice and communicative throughout the entire process. Makes things easier on yourself by using them if you need to move at all. It’s well worth it.

Alex and the crew were very professional and took great care of our stuff. We booked on short notice and they were accommodating and communicated throughout the move. They even helped move some of the boxes of stuff from our garage to the appropriate rooms as we had a little extra time.

We used Gorilla Movers 7 years ago and they did an excellent job. So we hired them again for our current move and they worked so hard. This time we were moving our belongings into pods and the perfectly wrapped our furniture for a long move. They also perfectly packed the pods so we could fit all of our belongings. I highly recommend this moving company.
