Getting Started With Your Move

Every move starts with the same two questions: what do you want done for you, and what will it cost? Here's how we answer both, fast.

Getting Started With Your Move
The short answer

Start by deciding your service level, full-service packing and moving, furniture-only, or labor-only loading help. Then get your quote: a 10–15 minute item list produces an accurate computer estimate, a rough figure takes two minutes, and larger homes get a visual survey. Your written quote arrives within one business hour with an hourly rate, a one-time travel charge, and fuel itemized.

First, decide how much you want done for you

Moves aren't all-or-nothing, and the biggest cost lever is how much of the work you keep. Some customers hand us everything, packing, loading, transport, setup. Others pack their own boxes and bring us in for the furniture and heavy lifting. Others just need a trained crew to load a rental truck, a pod, or a storage unit properly.

All of those are normal jobs for us. The services on the menu: local moving, long-distance moving, commercial moving, packing, and loading or unloading for storage units and rental trucks. Pick the slice that fits your budget and your back.

Then get your number, three ways

Call 619-600-5000 or start online, and choose the estimate depth that fits your move. A detailed item list takes about 10–15 minutes and produces an accurate computer estimate. In a hurry? We'll give you a rough figure based on the average home or office of your size in a couple of minutes. For larger moves, we'll come out and do a visual estimate so nothing gets guessed.

Whichever route, the quote is written, arrives within one business hour, and reads plainly: an hourly rate that never changes mid-job, a one-time travel charge, and fuel itemized on its own line. Every move includes our standard coverage, the truck, equipment, padding and wrapping of large or breakable furniture, and free wardrobe boxes on local moves, so closets travel on hangers.

A little prep that pays off on move day

Since local moves bill hourly, anything that speeds the crew saves you money directly. The highest-value prep, from 25,120+ moves of evidence:

  • Finish packing before the crew arrives, a half-packed house is the top schedule killer.
  • Stack packed boxes three or four high in each room, with clear walking paths to everything.
  • Empty and unlock dressers, closets, and cabinets so furniture is carry-ready.
  • Reserve parking or the loading zone at both addresses if your street or building is tight.
  • Set aside a first-night box and anything riding in your car, clearly marked so it doesn't board the truck.

Quick answers

How far ahead should I book?
Two to four weeks is comfortable for local moves; we also hold same-week availability most of the year for tighter timelines. Summer weekends and month-ends go first, so call early if your date is fixed.
Do I have to commit when I get a quote?
No. The quote is free, written, and yours to compare, we'd honestly rather you check us against two other licensed movers than book blind. Our comparison guide shows you exactly how.
