Gorilla Movers is an approved/preferred vendor with Greystar, and our crews regularly help residents move into and out of Greystar-managed communities across San Diego County.
Planning your move
Managed communities run on lead time. The day you give notice (or sign a new lease), three clocks start: the elevator calendar, the COI turnaround, and truck availability. Book all three at least two weeks out and the rest of the move is logistics, not luck.
Weekday mornings are the easiest slots to get — most buildings restrict moves to business hours, and Saturdays fill first. If your building only allows moves Monday through Friday, ask your leasing office early so you can plan time off.
Scheduling the elevator
Mid-rise and high-rise communities almost always require an elevator reservation with pads installed, and many limit you to a two- or three-hour window. Reserve the earliest window offered; a morning slot leaves room to extend if the load runs long, an afternoon slot does not.
Tell us your reserved window when you book and we build the crew size around it — a bigger crew that clears the elevator inside the window beats a small crew that needs a second reservation.
COI: the certificate of insurance
Most professionally managed buildings will not let a moving truck near the property without a certificate of insurance naming the community and its management company as certificate holders. COIs are standard with us at no charge — forward your leasing office's COI requirements when you book and we typically return the certificate within one business day.
Parking and truck access
Ask your leasing office where trucks are allowed to stage: some communities have a designated loading area, others expect the truck at a specific curb or garage entrance with height limits. Garage clearances matter — most parking structures cap out well under a box truck, which is why we confirm access during the quote instead of discovering it on move day.
Preparing for move-in
Confirm your gate/fob access works before the truck arrives, know your unit path (which elevator bank, which hallway), and keep your lease or move-in packet handy — some communities ask the crew lead for the COI copy or a move permit at the gate.
Preparing for move-out
Photograph the unit after it is empty, book any required elevator pads for the move-out day too (buildings require them in both directions), and schedule the move so you have time for the final walkthrough your community requires to return your deposit.
Packing and building protection
Managed buildings care about their hallways as much as your belongings. Our crews run door jamb protectors, floor runners, and corner guards in common areas as standard practice — the same protection the building requires from any approved vendor. If you are packing yourself, our packing guide covers materials and sequence.
