House Moving in Carlsbad, From Cottage to Estate
An Olde Carlsbad beach cottage and an Aviara estate are opposite moving problems. Eighteen years in, we've packed and moved both more times than we can count.
An Olde Carlsbad beach cottage and an Aviara estate are opposite moving problems: one is narrow doorways, tight streets and finesse, the other is scale, long carries and a crew sized for it. Gorilla Movers has packed and moved both for years, quotes from a walkthrough, and plans the week around the family rather than just the truck. Local moves are priced by the hour with the drive stated up front. Licensed CAL T-192729. Call 619-600-5000.
Two ends of the Carlsbad spectrum.
Close to the water, Carlsbad's older cottages and beach houses were built for a different scale of furniture: narrow doorways, tight hallways, and streets near the Village where parking disappears with the morning sun. Our crews measure the tricky pieces first, disassemble what needs it, and angle the rest through, door and floor protection goes up before the first carry, and there's no surcharge when the truck has to sit half a block away.
Inland, La Costa and Aviara bring the opposite challenge: bigger homes, gated streets, long driveways, and HOAs that want notice before a moving truck arrives. These moves carry more volume and more high-value pieces, stone tables, art, pianos. Our specialty crew crates what your insurer would want crated, and we confirm gate access and HOA rules when we book so the day starts on time.
Moving a family without wrecking the week.
Most Carlsbad house moves happen around an escrow date, a lease end, or a school calendar, sometimes all three. We plan backwards from the date that can't slip. Packing crews come the day before, kids' rooms get packed last and unpacked first, and the beds are rebuilt before the crew leaves the new house. If closing dates leave a gap, sealed vault storage at our Miramar warehouse holds everything in between.
Quotes are written, delivered within one business hour, and priced hourly with fuel itemized, the same structure we use across San Diego, with no coastal markup.
On every Carlsbad house move.
Same-week availability is normal for us outside the summer peak, and even then, call. Cancellations open dates weekly.

“Gorilla movers did a fantastic job moving my mother in Oceanside. Raul was incredible. From the moment he arrived, he was very strategic in how he would complete the job. I had doubts with all of the stuff we had but trusted his knowledge and experience and he exceeded our expectations! They take care of your items, asked a lot of questions and consistently checked in on if there was anything else they could help with. Raul, not sure if we could have done this move without you!! Thank you so much and than you Gorilla movers!! -Jackie, Marty, and Liz”
